I would like to celebrate two things: Spring time and Oreos! Besides these Spring Oreos, I’ve also gotten to try the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Oreos and they are amazing. Next stop, Red Velvet Oreos…
Westside Local in Kansas City was amazing. What a fun, relaxed atmosphere tucked in away in a older building of KC. They believe in supporting local businesses and farms in the area. I love their farm-to-table mentality and it shows. Everything was fresh and delicious. We started out with deviled eggs, spinach and artichoke dip, and the pint of fries. Deviled eggs were awesome and the fries, well, were just fries. Westside does make their own sauces, including ketchup, so that was a bonus with the fries. The spinach and artichoke dip came out cold –which was an interesting take on the dip, but totally tasty! As we tore through the starters, we weren’t sure how far we would get through our entrees, but we managed. 🙂 I got the Windhaven burger with local green, Shatto cheddar, local beef and ham, garlic aioli on a asiago bun, with a side of potato salad. Will. Be. Back.
When going to the Cheesecake Factory, one or two things happen: I get the Luau Salad, and I never have room for cheesecake. I know, I know, not enough room for cheesecake? In some instances, cheesecake is ordered first. 🙂 Here’s a pic of the Luau:
My first time having this salad was in Hawaii and I got hooked. Classic.
Got an opportunity to go to The Burger Stand in Lawrence. Love this place! Instead of a burger, I decided to try something new and got the Barnyard: chicken, cheese, bacon, and avocado –hold the sauce. This sandwich was legit and you can see why this might by my norm when hanging out at the Casbah. On the side were the best truffle fries a girl could order. Those were gone immediately. 🙂
There’s something about chocolate covered strawberries that allow me to indulge and not feel guilty. Maybe it’s because strawberries are good for you! But the chocolate definitely counteracts the healthy. 🙂 When these huge, chocolate covered strawberries were presented to me, I took the biggest one and enjoyed every bite. What an awesome way to get your daily fruit in for the day! 😀
Roasting veggies in the oven is one of the most easiest ways to add something awesome to your meal and get your veggies in for the day. I love root veggies such as beets, carrots, etc. More times than not, brussel sprouts and carrots are my two fave veggies to cook. Toss them with olive oil, sprinkle salt and pepper, and let them roast at 350 in the oven. I love brussel sprouts!
Now that Spring is here, it’s time to enjoy them in the raw! Here is a pic of my favorite brussel sprout salad from Merchants in Lawrence, KS! Fresh, light, and delish.
Oh and it’s time for March Madness! After the first round of games, my bracket is already busted, but it’s been great watching the games! 🙂
