Fall and donuts!

I don’t know why Fall wants me to constantly shove food in my face.  🙂 It’s the combination of the cool weather and wearing warmer clothing that makes me crave foods that aren’t good for the waistline.  But who doesn’t like a hearty soup or a stick-to-your-ribs meal to help face the fierce elements outside?  AND it’s only October!  I can’t wait to see how I am when December rolls around.

The Kansas City marathon was Saturday morning, and some friends and I cheered for the runners for three hours.  It was great to see friends run by and people I didn’t know say “thank you,” or cheer with us.  The morning was very cold and it made me eat this donut (pictured below). 🙂 It was worth every bite since we had been outside for a long time, but we had such a good time!  This is our second year cheering and I hope this experience continues for 2015 and beyond.

I haven’t had Dunkin Donuts in a long time. AND I’m not a sprinkles-kind-of-girl. But this donut though…

Cold, but having fun! So proud of everyone that ran! 🙂

Baked goods all the way!

85 Degree Celsius Bakery is wonderful!  The Taiwanese founder wanted to create an affordable bakery with quality ingredients.  Of course the first store was in Taiwan and now there are locations all over California.  It has a fun atmosphere where an employee yells, “baked goods” when refilling the shelves of delicious breads, pastries, etc.  If not bringing out the baked goods, the other employees yell, “baked goods” back.  I joined in and yelled as well!  🙂

I got to enjoy the cheese garlic bread, mango bread, raising bread, and the almond half moon –not all at the same time.  🙂 The almond half moon was the only thing that got it’s picture taken for this blog; the others were eaten too quickly and didn’t make the cut.  Everything was so legit, soft, and perfectly sweetened.  I also got to enjoy an iced latte.  So goooood!

Legit city.

I didn’t get time to experience these gems, but there’s always next time! 🙂

Almond Half Moon! Yay! It’s so beautiful!

Look how fluffy it is! And the cream is light too!

Natasha’s Mulberry and Mott.

For my birthday, my friend bought me some French Macaroons from Natasha’s Mulberry and Mott in Kansas City, MO.  There was champaign, chocolate, vanilla, pistachio, and mulberry.  ALL of them were awesome and perfect.  The lightness and smooth texture makes it feel almost guiltless -like eating air.  🙂 Absolutely the best!DSC_0751

I wish I had this suitcase. How awesome would it be to carry around a ham sandwich? Heck, it could be a peanut butter and jelly!

Another day, another donut!

Varsity Donuts: Manhattan, KS

I know what you’re thinking, “Another donut post?!”  Haha.  My wonderful brother bought donuts one morning during my visit.  This donut is all kinds of gloriousness and more!  It’s a hearty twist donut with jelly, peanut butter frosting, and peanuts.  Talk about a dance party in your belly!  As you break through the crispy glaze, you get a hit of peanut butter and crunchy peanuts.  Then all of a sudden, jelly breaks in to join in on the fun!  This is a great donut and I love my brother!

I think this is called the, “Larry.” 🙂

ImageIt’s cup cake time!  Cupcake A La Mode has some great cupcakes!  On Monday’s, they’re $2.00 and it’s such a treat!  I got the Marshmallow Fondue and it was awesome!  The cake was light and fluffy and the icing was perfect.  Monday’s have never been more awesome!  🙂
