Cheesecake Factory.

When going to the Cheesecake Factory, one or two things happen: I get the Luau Salad, and I never have room for cheesecake.  I know, I know, not enough room for cheesecake?  In some instances, cheesecake is ordered first.  🙂  Here’s a pic of the Luau:

The best.

My first time having this salad was in Hawaii and I got hooked.  Classic.

The Brussel Sprout: my best friend.

Roasting veggies in the oven is one of the most easiest ways to add something awesome to your meal and get your veggies in for the day.  I love root veggies such as beets, carrots, etc. More times than not, brussel sprouts and carrots are my two fave veggies to cook.  Toss them with olive oil, sprinkle salt and pepper, and let them roast at 350 in the oven.  I love brussel sprouts!

Now that Spring is here, it’s time to enjoy them in the raw!  Here is a pic of my favorite brussel sprout salad from Merchants in Lawrence, KS! Fresh, light, and delish.

Oh and it’s time for March Madness!  After the first round of games, my bracket is already busted, but it’s been great watching the games!  🙂

Q39

During Kanas City’s Restaurant Week, my friends and I had a difficult time choosing a meeting place.  From the long list of participating restaurants in the area, we knew it would take some time to look at the menu and settle –so many great places! We decided to meet at Q39 and it was the best choice ever!  Not only was the bbq really good, but we got try a lot of their menu items for a great price because of restaurant week.  I chose the platter with three meets: sausage, pulled pork, and smoked chicken.  Sides were potato salad and cole slaw.  Also, we started with onion straws, salad, and fries.  We did everything right.  🙂

Sorry the pics have been smaller, but lately I’ve been using my phone and not the Nikon! Wish you were here!

It’s lovely times like these, where I really take in the moments.  As a foodie, I appreciate the culinary aspect, but I really enjoy spending time with my friends.  I am thankful for the opportunities that I am able to experience- my heart is full.  As I’ve explored the Kansas City area for the past two years, it’s times like these that make it hard to even think about moving to a different place.

Oh, and we also had dessert.  🙂

Warm apple cobbler with legit ice cream. Thankful!

Johnny’s Tavern!

One of the World Series games –Royals vs. Giants– fell on the same day as my friend Michele’s birthday.  We went to Johnny’s Tavern to celebrate and watch the game.  As we watched the game with burgers, chicken wings, and fried pickles, the environment was fun and positive.  It may have been because the Kansas City Royals won the game.  😀  We had a great time laughing, cheering, eating, and talking.  What a celebration!

The only pic I have is of the fried pickles and jalapenos.  A tasty treat!  Johnny’s is a great place to eat.

Watching the game! 🙂 We won!

Ginger Sue’s!

My friend Abbey and I went to one her favorite breakfast spots called, Ginger Sue’s.  While waiting for a table, we soaked in the sun and conversed, but not for very long.  The environment was simple and clean.  The breakfast items dominated the menu, so that’s always a good sign for the first meal of the day.  🙂

I ordered the farmer’s omelet with veggies and goat cheese, and it came with a biscuit and a side –I chose fruit.  Also, I added a blueberry pancake.  Everything was wonderful!  The goat cheese was a perfect addition to the omelet and the biscuit was literally perfect.  I liked that fresh apples and bananas were involved in the fruit side and for the first time, I couldn’t finish the pancake.

Abbey and I pretty much closed the place down as we sat there talking for hours and finished our coffee.  Awesome place to have breakfast!

Look at the little pocket of syrup. Always, my favorite part of the pancake. 😀

PHO!

This morning I went to a free nutrition class, then had coffee at Crows Coffee with a friend, and pho for lunch at Pho Vietnam!  Winter is definitely upon us, and I’ve been craving pho for a bit.  The broth was tasty and I love how the bean sprouts add crunch.  The lime adds a little sour and the added Siracha packs in a little kick.  A bowl of goodness and it was awesome!  What a way to start the weekend!

Coffee at Crows Coffee. So good. They make their own pumpkin syrup and their baked goods are made locally. 😀
