Cheesecake Factory.

When going to the Cheesecake Factory, one or two things happen: I get the Luau Salad, and I never have room for cheesecake.  I know, I know, not enough room for cheesecake?  In some instances, cheesecake is ordered first.  🙂  Here’s a pic of the Luau:

The best.

My first time having this salad was in Hawaii and I got hooked.  Classic.

Basil Leaf Cafe.

My friend Amea introduced me to Basil Leaf Cafe in Lawrence, Kansas.  It’s is awesome and one of my favorite spots for dinner.  I enjoy the cozy atmosphere and fresh flowers on the tables.  Every meal has been wonderful and the serving size always leaves you leftovers for lunch the following day!

House Salad. My dream salad.

The house salad is the way to go.  Fresh greens, tomatoes, and green peppers make for a great foundation, but the croutons, artichoke hearts, and banana peppers really make this salad a must-have when visiting.  I get this every time!

Risotto Balls.

Arancini is an appetizer that consists of sausage, vegetables, and a five-cheese risotto shaped into a ball, and covered in a parmesan and panko crust.  It is deep fried to perfection and served with a fire roasted tomato sauce.  These are absolutely fantastic!

This is a chicken, leek, and wild mushroom risotto.  This is by far the best risotto I’ve ever had -anywhere!  It’s full of flavor and cooked perfectly.  Some of you may know this: risotto is difficult to cook.  I feel that it needs to be watched over carefully and takes a while to cook.  I say this from experience.  🙂 And let’s just say it didn’t turn out well.  🙂  Basil Leaf does not have this dish any more (they change menus to keep things spicy), but usually feature a risotto.  I try to branch out each time I visit, but the risotto is always calling my name!

The Yard House!

I was introduced to a Yard House restaurant a few years back, but recently met up with some friends for delicious eats.  It was good the first time and this time as well!  There is only one location in the Kansas City area, but it looks like these restaurants are sprouting all over the place.

We all started we an order of Truffle Fries.  Remember my visit to the Burger Stand and my experience with their truffle fries?  Let’s just say that the Yard House doesn’t come close to what the Burger Stand has.  The Yard House Truffle Fries were still good, so I give them one thumb up!  Also, I love introducing people to the Truffle!

Second place, Truffle Fries!

I ordered the Spicy Chicken Breast sandwich.  I noticed that they had a few Korean inspired dishes and thought that was amazing, but I wanted to stick to something easy and spicy.  I asked for a side salad instead of the fries.  The chicken was good and the flat bread was fantastic!

Delightful combo!

Close-up! Look at the cajun aioli! Luscious!

It was a fun time catching up with friends, the environment was up-beat and fun, and the service was great!  I will be going more often, especially since there is a nice shopping area within walking distance.  Happy Sunday!

Super Simple Salad!

A nice salad with chicken for lunch!  Super simple, yet nutritious and tasty.  Although I love ranch and french dressing as much as the next person, a good olive oil and balsamic vinegar packs a great flavor.  So good!

Nuts and Buns.

Nuts and Buns.

Texas Roadhouse has always been a favorite of mine and my friends. Texas has free nuts to snack on and their buns are on point! They have a great salad called, “Chicken Critter.” With a side of ranch, you’re looking at some good eats! They also make a great Blooming Onion.
